Celebrating 50 Years!

March 17, 2010 | Filed Under Studio 67 | Leave a Comment

When love and friendship span 5 decades it's really something to celebrate!  I was honoured to be there to capture all the special moments of Bob and Penny's 50th Anniversary Party.  The best part was seeing how emotional they were when it came time to toast their family and friends who came out to share this special afternoon with them.  It's obvious that the passion and love that brought them together 50 years ago is still burning.  I took this opportunity to also capture all their children and grandchildren who were there because 50 years is something to record in the family album - to share with generations to come.  Congratulations to you both, may you continue to enjoy many more years together!

Stefanie + Jeff

We had an amazing day yesterday capturing Stefanie and Jeff's winter wedding.  Stefanie had hoped for some snow for her photo session and she got her wish.  We kept asking her if she was cold standing outside in a strapless dress but she said the adrenalin was keeping her warm.  She had been waiting for this day for many years and it was so cute to watch her admiring her sparkling new wedding band all afternoon.  We want to thank their wedding party for being so fun, their parents who were so warm and inviting to us as we captured their entire wedding day.  Their SDE  (Same Day Experience) was definitely a huge hit and many of their guests told us how much they loved watching it during the reception.  Special thanks to Bob Marinett for coming out and shooting with us.

Cali + Snowy

On February 5th we took our youngest daughter to the family doctor for what we thought was a bladder infection.   Within an hour we were in the ER at McMaster Children's Hospital, she had IVs inserted into both arms and we were being told she has type 1 diabetes and a heart condition.  From there we spent the next few days in pediatric ICU and then another 2 weeks in the regular pediatric ward as we awaited word from Sick Kids hospital in Toronto.  We managed to get her diabetes under control fairly quickly but the heart problem (LQTS) is a bit trickier to sort out because she has a very low heart rate as well as a long QT wave.
This Tuesday afternoon we brought her home and the first thing she wanted to do was build a snowman... Brian helped her make "Snowy" the snowperson.  As we await our appointment at Sick Kids in a couple of weeks we are optimistic that they will be able to give us some answers/solutions.  In the meantime we're making happy memories ... like this one below.

Welcome To Our New Blog

February 20, 2010 | Filed Under Studio 67 | Leave a Comment

Welcome to the brand new blog of Studio 67.  Over the past few months we have been working with the creative geniuses at ITDR to re-brand our business and create a website, blog and brand that truly represents who we are.  The warm caramel tones, the clean, fresh feel, the modern fonts and lines make us feel like this is really 'home' and we hope you feel welcome here as well.  We are so proud to display all our favourite photos and short films here.  Over the coming months we will be posting all our 2010 weddings, portrait sessions and a variety of other projects.  We are super excited as we've come to know each of our 2010 couples and can't wait to share their stories right here!
Right off the hop we have a HUGE announcement for our very first post - it's something we've been keeping a bit of a secret and we're so proud to share it with all of you.  Our studio team has grown with the addition of Matthew Craggs, a cinematographer from Welland, Ontario.  Matthew worked on a few weddings with us in 2009, he is an amazing editor and shooter and really compliments our creative team.  We have all become close friends over the past several months and want to thank Matt's beautiful wife Jenn for allowing him to escape many a Saturday night to come out and work with us.
Finally, we want to thank the uber talented Kathy DeMerchant for taking the photographs below of us at a session in late December.  When we decided we wanted to have some team photos done for our new blog I called Kathy.  We find her photography both beautiful and inspiring and love the way she captured us just hanging out and having fun.  Kathy and her husband Rick are a pleasure to work with and are not only great photographers but also great friends of ours.  Below our Studio 67 blogshow photos is our latest SDE from Michelle and Mark's January 2010 wedding... it's one our favourites for sure.  Enjoy and please feel free to leave a comment and let us know what you think of our new digs!

On January 7th Wendy and Michael were married during a beautiful sunset ceremony in the sand at the ocean's edge in the Mayan, Mexico. The day was perfect and we were so excited to be there to capture it all. Wendy and her mom had their hair appointments in the BahiaSpa at the resort and then we headed back to their villa for all the preparations. The ceremony took place about 4:30 as the sun

How lucky we are to have had the opportunity to not only capture Mary and Matt's amazing Disney Wedding, but to also be invited to their second wedding and reception in St. Catharines last weekend. With so many amazing images it was very hard to choose just a few to post here on the blog. On January 11th Mary and Matt were married in the Wedding Pavilion at the Grand Floridian Resort at Disney

Capturing Michelle and Mark's wedding day was such fun. These two are just so cute together and their love is obvious in all the little things; their nicknames for each other, the way they look at each other constantly and break into these amazing smiles. Over the past several weeks Michelle has continually written on Face Book about all these little paper cranes she was making for their wedding

Mary + Matt / Engaged / Walking in a Winter Wonderland

December 29, 2009 | Filed Under Studio 67 | Leave a Comment

In just 13 days Mary and Matt will be married during their magical wedding celebration in Disney World. We are so honoured to be going along to capture all the details of their big day. Mary is a wedding planner and is busy planning many weddings for others, so finding time to get together for her own engagement shoot, with our crazy schedules, was a wee bit difficult. Yesterday we finally

In August 2008 we captured Fatima and Admir's very special Canadian Wedding Celebration; they were legally married almost a year earlier in Bosnia and this was their opportunity to share their marriage celebration with all their family and friends here. A couple of months ago I was super excited to spend a few hours with them to shoot some beautiful belly shots during Fatima's last month of

Our Christmas in 3:35 / Happy New Year Everyone!

December 26, 2009 | Filed Under Studio 67 | Leave a Comment

Well here we are on Christmas Day and what a whirlwind 24 hours it has been. It's tradition for my family to visit my mom's relatives on Christmas Eve. I can't ever remember a Christmas when we didn't get together and I have some pretty funny memories of being smaller than our children are now and spending a few hours visiting around the Christmas tree. Lots of laughs was a guarantee. Every

Playtime with Yazzy ! / Baby Portraiture / Hamilton

December 21, 2009 | Filed Under Studio 67 | Leave a Comment

Meet Yazmeen, an absolute doll! At 3 months her personality is really starting to shine and she babbles and blows bubbles none stop. Her mom had a very special dress on hand, it was sewn over a hundred years ago and has been passed down through the generations to baby Yazmeen. The smocking on it is so beautiful. I also noticed a very old teddybear that had been loved abundantly in his day

Over the past couple of months I have been fortunate to shoot 3 family sessions each weekend and have been focused on editing in order to get the finished images back to each family before the holidays. I've also been designing and ordering holiday cards for families as well as specialty prints and mounts. In doing all of this I just haven't been able to find the time to blog - several people

This afternoon I spent a few hours with Andja and Milan and we headed down to Niagara On The Lake for Part One of their engagement session. (Part Two happens next May - we have split up the session because we're working on a super cool concept film to show at their wedding next September).Milan loves sports, red wine and above those two things on the list is Andja. The Newest Arrival

November 26, 2009 | Filed Under Studio 67 | Leave a Comment

About 2 weeks ago we decided we'd take the plunge and invest in a new piece of equipment for the studio. Brian has wanted a Steadicam for an entire year but it wasn't something we could swing in the budget during our first full year of weddings. Instead we bought and used a much smaller, less expensive Glide Cam which did it's job but "gliding" just isn't FLYING! So we decided to sell the

Madeleine + Mark / laughing till their cheeks hurt!

I spent a couple of hours with Madeleine and Mark yesterday to shoot some engagement photos and really find out more about them individually and as a couple. This is a very important part of the process of us shooting a couple's wedding although sometimes we don't have that luxury due to the restraints of time and distance. They drove from Niagara on the Lake to meet me at Battlefield Park in

Amanda + Ryan / Engaged / Autumn Love

November 13, 2009 | Filed Under Studio 67 | Leave a Comment

Amanda and Ryan are our July 10, 2010 couple and we're super excited to capture their wedding day next summer. During our initial meeting a few months ago I asked Ryan how he proposed and immediately Amanda's face lit up like a Christmas tree... well, maybe I should say jack-o-lantern. As it turns out their story was one of the most romantic I have heard so far. Ryan took Amanda out for dinner
