I can’t say enough about how beautiful it was on Nantucket the weekend of June 27. I was out filming Amanda + Vincent’s wedding with the fantastic duo from Nantucket Weddings Unveiled, Brea McDonald Photography and Dawn Kelly from Soiree Floral. We not only had a blast working together at the wedding, but we had some island time to help showcase to prospective brides what some of these hidden gems actually look like! Amanda + Vincent had, by far, one of the coolest getaway’s ever! You must watch this one minute film on the Siasconset Chapel. To read the full post, visit Nantucket Weddings Unveiled.

Upstate and Western New York Wedding Videographer Kraig Adams
July 12, 2010 | Filed Under Meg Simone | Leave a Comment
It’s always fun to get emails from filmmakers just entering the wedding business, especially when they are in areas that I’ve been looking for filmmakers in! Kraig Adams is a television and film arts major at Buffalo State college and is breaking into the wedding film business in Western, NY with a strong passion and desire to learn. I love this quote from his site:
“Video to me is more than a hobby, but less than an obsession, which makes it a passion. It is a passion that makes me spend a whole lunch period writing up a script for a video that I am planning. It is a passion that makes me buy videography magazines, read production guides, and watch online video tutorials about how to correctly execute a sweeping pan shot. One thing that I have realized when it comes to researching video production is that the more I learn, the more I want to know.” – Kraig Adams Media
I admire Kraigs enthusiasm to learn and grow in this field, and love that he’s seeing growth in his own work just in the last few years. My best to Kraig, and for any brides getting married in Upstate or Western, NY - Kraig is your man! Thanks for the blog love Kraig!
Laura + Joe’s New Hampshire Wedding Film Testimonial

Joe and I sat down to watch our wedding DVD the other day and we were blown away. You captured every wonderful detail throughout the day. We laughed and cried through the film, we even felt like dancing after watching everyone dance in the longest conga line I have ever seen. We didn’t realize how much we missed until we saw the film.
We were so touched by all the well wishes and wonderful things everyone said . When my grandfather jokingly says the secret to a happy marriage is to “keep your mouth shut,” we were in hysterics. Capturing moments like this was very important to us. – Laura and Joe Bedard 5/29/10 at the Grand Summit Hotel at Attitash

I’m not sure I even know where to start with Lauren and Matt. The emails kept pouring in and I continued to be humbled by their kind words. It’s so fun to do local destination weddings in Jackson, because lucky for me, my clients keep coming back to visit! So I know I will be seeing a lot more of the Burke’s in coming months. Here are a few snippets and comments from Lauren’s many gracious emails. Thank you both

Documentary Film: Lauren + Matt - 5/22/10, Whitney's Inn - Jcakson, NH
Hi Meg,
Well, we finally had a chance to sit down together to watch our incredible videos!! We LOVE them- I know I already said that, but it’s true! I could watch it a million times! And Matt agrees (after months of trying to convince him that we NEED a video!) that it was a great idea to capture our family and friends live, together at the same time, for our day. It means the world to have Matt’s nana Rose in our video forever, and we are so lucky for that!
We love the well-wishes by lots of our guests, and are really excited to share it with everyone!
I think everyone was so happy, and we’ve gotten so many compliments-it was such a unique wedding, with the Inn and barn for the venue, Pojen and his fantastic words, the breathtaking scenery in the White Mtns…the food was amazing…I could go on and on! Every time I hear “it was the best wedding I’ve ever been to”, it makes me so happy!
Thank you thank you thank you!

NH Wedding Film Previews for Leslie and Andrew at the Manchester Country Club 6/19/10
July 1, 2010 | Filed Under Meg Simone | Leave a Comment
Lots of people remember the adorable preview from 8/1/09 (on the films page) when the Ring Bearer says, “Oh my gosh, look at that dress, Shawn is going to freak out!”… well thanks to Kim and Shawn I got to meet Leslie and Andrew! I love hearing from couples when they see their preview, especially since I’ve converted someone into a fan of wedding films! Thanks Leslie and Andrew – I can’t wait to put together the full edit!
It was so incredible to work with you! I have to admit, Andrew did NOT want a videographer and thought it was a waste of money, but being the good man that he is, knew I wanted it and went along with it! After the wedding itself, but especially after seeing the previews, he was so excited and thankful that we had you there to capture the most incredible day of our lives! I am too! Actually, I think we all owe big thanks to Shawn! (8/1/2009 Groom)
I can’t wait to share these previews! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Meg, you have such a talent. I love it. I am just so so so thrilled- and I’ve only seen the previews!!!! Leslie

Rev. Pojen Lee and The Jackson Community Church – Jackson, NH
June 28, 2010 | Filed Under Meg Simone | Leave a Comment
When I talk with new clients celebrating in Jackson, they usually ask, “How is the Jackson Community Church?” I personally love it. It’s one of my favorite church’s to film in. The natural light is beautiful, and it’s so quaint, so “Jackson”… after all, you are choosing to get married here, why not really “get” married here (unless you are getting married outside, which I also LOVE). Pojen not only speaks from the heart, but he keeps things fun and really hits home major key points on what the significance of the wedding day is all about…. however, you don’t have to take my word for it.

Kind Words from Lauren and Matt
June 24, 2010 | Filed Under Meg Simone | Leave a Comment
One of Lauren’s bridesmaids was put on bed rest at the last minute, so even though she was the one who picked out the super fun bridesmaids dresses, she didn’t get her chance to wear it. I felt really bad as her husband Paul was a groomsmen and also in the wedding that day. I always review client footage the day after anyway, so I did my best to get just the ceremony to Lauren and Matt on their way out of town. Here’s what they said:

Hi Meg,
Thank YOU for being so kind, flexible, and such an incredible talent! We are so lucky to have had you film our wedding day. We actually did stop by Paul and Beth’s house this afternoon and we watched the ceremony- it’s hard to believe that was 2 days ago already! We were all amazed by the clarity and awesome footage (they have a 52″ LCD tv, so it was really cool to watch on it!) We LOVED it! Dave got a great shot of post-ceremony from that window!
We are still glowing from our incredible wedding day and the entire weekend. Our family and friends can’t stop gushing, and we can’t wait to see more of our day captured on film!! Thank you so much, also, for getting footage of Matt’s Nana- it means a lot to us!
We’ll talk to you soon!

Spring Smith of Concept Spring Studio is such a talent. Her eye is amazing, and every time I look at our photos, I cannot believe that she caught the the images that she did! If I wasn’t actually the bride, I would look at some of her photos and think that it was a pre-set photo shoot! She is professional and so much fun. She even sat on an adirondack chair to wipe off possible dirt before we did so as not to dirty my gown. Love her! - Lauren Burke, Bride

“Carrie from Dutch Bloemen Winkel is incredible! She truly captures the vision of what the couple is looking for in their wedding day flowers, and is able to work within the couples’ budget. I loved her enthusiasm for our bright colors, her advice, and her attention to detail. On the day of our wedding I was blown away by the beauty of our bouquets, the candy buffet that she helped make look so fun and inviting, not to mention the fantastic pink, green and orange lanterns she hung from the beams of the barn, right above the dancefloor!” – Lauren and Matt Burke, 5/22/10, Whitney’s Inn

Destination Weddings in Jackson, NH
June 16, 2010 | Filed Under Meg Simone | Leave a Comment

From Lauren: “We knew we wanted to have a destination wedding, but not one that our family and friends would have to jump on a flight for. We have been to Jackson so many times for weekend getaways, skiing, shopping, and fun. The village is so special to us, we spent our first, third, and fourth dating anniversaries there (February 18th), and on the fourth, Matt proposed to me at Nestlenook Farm, on a snowy night. It was magical, as is Jackson for us. We loved the feel of Whitney’s Inn, very warm, with the adirondack style of the Inn. And the Shovel Handle Pub was the perfect venue for our wedding reception-we LOVED the rustic feel of the barn, and knew right away that this was the place for us.

Planning a wedding that is 2 hours away was easy, because every local vendor that we used was extremely flexible, they made themselves available always, and was just so refreshing and willing to accomodate us every step of the way. One aspect that I loved was that there weren’t an overwhelming amount of vendors to choose from, so it was less stressful in choosing which vendor to select! And our 107 guests were thrilled to get a weekend away- countless people had told us in the months leading up to our wedding how excited they were to get away for a couple of nights. And we didn’t disappoint– so many people have told us that this was the best wedding they have ever been to! That is the ultimate compliment, and solidified our decision. Having our wedding in Jackson, NH was the best decision we could have made! - Lauren Burke, Bride (5/22/10)

NH Weddings vs Black Flies
June 9, 2010 | Filed Under Meg Simone | Leave a Comment
Who Wins? Well, sometimes the black flies… but if you are coming up for a wedding and you want to head into some more wooded scenic spots for time with your photographer, you may want to put some after bite in your pocket like Groom Dave did on 6/1/10. I can also provide you with some organic all natural bug oil for the bride to put around her ankles or on her wrists, dabbing like perfume. It actually smells really nice and since it’s all natural, I wear it all the time in the summer. When filming your outside wedding during black fly season I do my best to repel bugs off the camera, but there is no guarantee. There are plenty of places to go that are relatively bug free, and if we get a good breeze on any given day, it’s not much of an issue. Just be warned though, I can’t say you won’t get a nibble from those little black flies. Tip courtesy of www.nhelopements.com

Matthew Lomanno Photography

Fellow My Kate Parker Wedding vendor, Matthew Lomanno and I did a wedding back in October for Jennifer and Jason (10/9/09), but I never formally took the chance to blog about him. Matthew was extremely easy to work with, so much so that at the end of the night I remember thinking I barely saw him. He sort of floats around inconspicuously, as if on a cloud, and when I ever saw the final images from their day my jaw hit the ground. I thought, “Where were you? How did you get that? How did you capture them so well in the church without flash!” He did an amazing job. Father to four with a loving and supportive wife, Matthew also makes a great Groomsmen, as I filmed him in his sister Marissa’s wedding on 12/27/09 (which I have yet to blog about!). I feel like I know the entire Lomanno Family, and they are all so genuine and nice.
If you are looking for a photographer for this year, Matthew still has some July and August dates for 2010 left. Give him a jingle or check out his site.
A wedding day celebrates the joining of two lives surrounded by family and friends, and my goal is to create photographs of unscripted moments in a day abounding with ceremonies, schedules, and plans. To achieve this, I attempt to remain as unobtrusive and inconspicuous as possible. Influenced by numerous documentary and street photographers, I strive to capture candid moments, showing you and your guests enjoying the day. – Matthew Lomanno

Dawn and Troy hail from NY, and this past Memorial Day Weekend family and friends from across the country ventured to The Mountain View Grand in Whitefield, NH for their destination wedding. It’s nice for people who daily commute in multiple lanes of traffic to take a few days to get away from it all and stroll on country roads, breath the mountain air, and to take time to be with family and friends. Congrats to Dawn + Troy! Here’s to many more reasons to return to NH! - Meg

“I feel like I am waiting the release of this great, fantastic film!” Diane Durante
Thanks to Laura and Joe for allowing me to film your wedding celebration at The Grand Summit Hotel at Attitash this past Saturday. I think I was most surprised when Joe hit the dance floor, but I couldn’t wipe a smile off my face all night as I watched their families surround them with such genuine love. Laura is a stunning bride and this preview doesn’t do justice to how great she looked. Check out photographer Jennifer Stone’s blog to see more. Thanks to Diane for her kind words above! Lindsay + Jeff: Wedding Preview from the Tewksbury Country Club

Lindsay and Jeff tied the knot on 4/24/10 at the Tewksbury Country Club in Tewksbury, MA. It was my first time to the TCC and to be honest, I was blown out of the water by the inside of the building. That is one impressive Timber Frame Structure! Sage Photo captured the day and Diane is so personable with her couples. When I watch her interact with a bride and groom, I always think, “they must be old friends?” She just has that natural rapport with people. An all around great day! (They were huge MJ fans, so crank the speakers for this Preview if you want to dance in your office!)

Weddings at The Balsams Grand Resort Hotel

What a treat to spend Tuesday at The Balsams working for Thom Pollard of Eyes Open Productions. I can’t dilvulge the secret project he was filming but I can say that during the break we had a few hours, so I took up office space on the verandah! I wouldn’t mind doing this a few times a week – WOW! I got more done in those two hours with a quiet breeze and breathtaking scenery as inspiration. Another super cool thing that happened is that I finally met Karen Ahrens who has been the onsite wedding coordinator at The Balsams for the last four years (and at the resort for 10!) She just completed an intensive training course through the Association of Certified Professional Wedding Consultants (ACPWC) and you can meet Karen and learn about their wedding offerings online, in this great film shot onsite at the resort.
“This accomplishment brings a new level of service to an already outstanding wedding experience at The Balsams Grand Resort Hotel!” – The Balsams Blog
I can’t wait to return to the Balsams for an elopement or wedding … or of course to just work on their verandah or in their summer gardens!

Happy Anniversary! An Elegant Lakeside Wedding at Church Landing
May 21, 2010 | Filed Under Meg Simone | Leave a Comment
I don’t usually do a “Happy Anniversary Post” but this weekends weather reminded me of exactly one year ago today at Church Landing. Guests traveled from all over the world for this destination wedding on Lake Winnipesaukee 5/22/09. Ladd Hill Gardens did a tremendous job with the ceremony details complimenting the Sperry Tent and setting in an elegant yet natural way. The couple has significant ties to the lake so the location was fitting. They executed with ease many traditions throughout the day I had never seen, including special gifts from a “fairy godmother”, delivery of a special horseshoe, a log cutting ceremony and more! Now off to film another wonderful wedding, on 5/22 here in Jackson, NH at Whitney’s Inn! Congrats Lauren and Matt! Happy Anniversary Genna and Rusty!
This is the wedding video “open” leading up to the ceremony.

I love getting post cards in the mail, especially when it’s from friend Becca Van Fleet Webb! Her artistic abilities never cease to amaze me. She recently wed and moved her NH Pottery Studio to Vermont where her new husband works and teaches as well. The best thing is, no matter where they travel, you can still buy their work for wedding gifts! They have a great E-Store and they currently have a couple of openings for summer wedding registries. It’s a wonderful way to give and receive handmade wedding gifts and they handle everything for you! You must check out their website for stunning photos of their work and a glimpse into life as Two Potters, in Vermont. Congrats Becca and Nathan – hope to visit the new studio soon
