Jennifer + Steve // Wedding Highlights | Bluemont Vineyard

I absolutely loved capturing Jennifer & Steve’s gorgeous wedding at Bluemont Vineyard in Bluemont, Virginia! Jennifer had told us that she definitely wanted the getting ready details and I am so glad we were able to capture those! From the hilarious reactions to gifts they exchanged (more couples should do this) to the moment of relief and excitement they had when they were both ready, I felt it really helped to tell the story of the day, as well as bring out their awesome personalities. Once we left the hotel, we headed over to Bluemont Vineyard, where we first witnessed the gorgeous location and had a chance to talk with some amazing photographers! Elizabeth Leighton and Ingrid Kaslik, were a complete joy to work with. Their style really meshed well with ours and we were able to collaborate so well throughout the day (they totally rocked the photo booth setup).
The ceremony was completely amazing with an incredible view overlooking the vineyard. I especially liked their two dogs (Gizmo and Petunia) walking down the aisle instead of a flower girl or ring bearer. We always love when our couples incorporate their personalities into their weddings and Jennifer + Steve had tons of amazing details for us to capture. The reception was filled with fun little details like the wall of Polaroid’s, the photo booth (which was totally a hit), and the tower of delicious cup cakes. DJ Jake Ritchie of Dream Day DJ’s totally got the party started with some great mixes and everyone came out to the dance floor.
I hope you enjoy the highlights!
Brent + Natalie // Wedding Highlights | Richmond, VA

Brent and Natalie..hmm..where to start? Well about seven months ago I met Brent, an amazing voice over artist and writer, who loves all things Disney (except the Disney Channel) and a girl named Natalie. After talking with him about how they met and their story, I was so excited that they chose me to document their special day.
A few months later, I was hired to work on a three year film project for the VA Health Department. To my surprise, Brent was also working on the same project (his office is right beside mine haha) and I was really able to get to know him and Natalie more as the months progressed towards their big day.
Their beautiful wedding was held at the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Richmond, VA and the reception was held at The Westin Richmond.
I hope you enjoy the highlights!
Brittany + Brandon // Wedding Highlights | Charlottesville, Virginia

We had a great time filming Brittany + Brandon’s lovely wedding in Charlottesville, Virginia. The morning ceremony took place at UVA Chapel, which was followed by an afternoon of celebration at The Boar’s Head Inn. Sheila, from The Event Company was there to orchestrate this beautiful event. We had so much fun shooting with Brittany & Brandon amongst the gorgeous architecture and scenic gardens. It was also our first time working with photographer Dominique Attaway, who was great to work with.
The end of the afternoon brought a memorable moment for the UVA Grad guests as Brittany and Brandon asked everyone to “all join hands and give a yell for the dear old UVA” by singing the “Good Ole Song” before sending them off through a tunnel of bubbles and onto a decorated Boar’s Head Inn golf cart!

Places to Visit // Chiles Peach Orchard
August 7, 2010 | Filed Under Josh Gooden - Photography + Cinematography | Leave a Comment
One of the best things about traveling to so many weddings and events, is the opportunity to experience local hidden gems like Chiles Peach Orchard in Crozet, Virginia. Having been to Chiles once before and loving it, I always wanted to return (mostly for the absolutely amazing peach milkshake they offer). Here is a little history on Chiles before you check out the photos:
Chiles Peach Orchard was established in 1974. The original orchards were planted in the 1910’s and 1920’s. These peaches were planted for commercial production, and for years were packed and shipped all over the country. The original card table sales area has since been replaced with a beautiful new farm market. Open early May through Thanksgiving, the market is surrounded by peach and cherry trees, and a beautiful view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

This is the original Peach stand, before it was replaced by the newer market down the road. It always reminds me of the little stands in the French countryside.

So if you ever find yourself near Charlottesville, VA, definitely check this place out! You can find directions, history, and more at: http://www.chilespeachorchard.com
For any couples thinking about fun places for their engagement session, this would be a very awesome spot! ;]
Renita // Senior Session | Swannanoa Palace

Last weekend I was fortunate enough to photograph Renita, a rising senior and photographer, from South Boston, Virginia. After learning about her love for anything Victorian and vintage, I knew Swannanoa Palace in Afton, Virginia would be perfect for her senior session. I found some awesome props, which included some vintage books, a typewriter, a few vintage cameras, and a mirror. The props worked so well in the shoot and with Swannanoa in the background, they matched perfectly. Despite the rain at the end of the shoot, I had so much fun working with Renita (as well as her boyfriend Travis) and I wish her the best as she enters her last year of high school.
I hope you enjoy the teasers! :]

On July 18th, we headed to the historic Tinkling Spring Church in Fishersville, Virginia for Kyle & Chris’s gorgeous wedding. After getting to know Kyle’s family during the bridal preps, I knew we were going to capture some amazing moments throughout the day. After the ceremony we headed across the mountain to Veritas Vineyards for the reception, which was absolutely gorgeous. The lighting was amazing and we were able to do some pretty epic Steadicam shots before heading inside for some really fun dancing. From the little moments in the beginning of the day that led to some pretty hilarious moments at night, we had an incredible time getting to know Kyle & Chris and are so blessed to have captured their special day.
I hope you enjoy the highlights! :]

In late June, I had the opportunity to capture Kait + Tom’s gorgeous wedding at Spring Meadows Farm in Mt. Solon, Virginia. When I first met Kait in 2009 and heard the story of how she met her Australian lover Tom, I knew it would be amazing to photograph. In early 2010, Kait moved to Australia with Tom and they flew back to Virginia a few days before for the wedding. They incorporated a lot of fun little travel touches with their details, which I loved and there were a ton of great moments throughout the day. I hope you enjoy a small glimpse of their wedding!

In early June, we traveled to the beautiful Maison Beliveau Bed & Breakfast in Blacksburg, Virginia for Amanda & Davey’s wedding. From the smallest details to the hilarious dances, it was so fun to get to know Amanda & Davey’s personalities throughout the day. While the rain forced everyone into a small shelter during the ceremony, the whole wedding party stood outside under umbrellas, making for an incredible ceremony that I will never forget.
I hope you enjoy a sneak peak of their special day!

Whitney & Peter are an amazing couple, and we had so much fun running around Prince Michel Vineyard in the gorgeous weather! We found many awesome locations throughout the property and even a prop (the heart..which made a really awesome shot). While their wedding is not until next October of next year, I was so excited to work with them this soon. It was truly an awesome day and I cannot wait to work with them next year!
I hope you enjoy the teasers! :]

Shelly + Eric // Wedding Highlights

Shelly & Eric were such a fun and unique couple to work with! The beautiful ceremony was held at the gorgeous Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in downtown Richmond. Having witnessed the cathedral for the first time, we were blown away with its incredible architecture and details (this led to many fun steadicam shots
). After the ceremony, we walked through downtown Richmond shooting fun moments with Shelly & Eric and our favorite photography team, Jodi & Kurt, from Jodi Miller Photography. After a two hour break (their ceremony was early), we headed to the Richmond Omni for the reception, which was fantastic!
I hope you enjoy a sneak peak of their day!

(If you are having issues playing the video above, please turn HD off in the player.)
It is the little moments that make each couple and each story so unique. When Jessica’s father contacted me from North Carolina and told me of Jessica & Kenneth’s plans to have their wedding in nearby New Market, Virginia, I was extremely excited by the opportunity to film there, but meeting the couple was even more amazing.
I am always a bit nervous about meeting a couple for the first time, but these two were a dream to work with. From riding across the property on the back of a golf cart to the hilarious interview, we had so much fun capturing their special day.
I hope you enjoy their highlights!

We shot in downtown Harrisonburg, which led us to the Spring Box in Court Square, The Artful Dodger (where they first met), and an awesome abandoned train station. I look forward to shooting their wedding in early September! Enjoy the teasers!!

Mill Cabinet // Teasers

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Mill Cabinet, a local company in Bridgewater, Virginia, to shoot some promotional images for their new website, which is being designed by Estland Design. Unlike most cabinet shops, Mill Cabinet does almost everything by hand and their finished work is breathtaking. The level and skill that goes into each piece is incredible and I was fascinated to learn a little bit about the process while shooting these images. Enjoy!

EXT. TALLIS HOUSE. GARDENS. DAY.
It’s no later than 10am, but the sun is already high and blazing down on the monumental facade of the Tallis house, recognizable from its miniature version seen earlier. Lying on one of the rolling lawns is CECILIA TALLIS, BRIONY’s sister, a beautiful, restless-looking girl of 23, who is making a desultory attempt to read a fat edition of Richardson’s Clarissa. She turns back a page to re-read something, then sighs, rolls on to her back and shuts her eyes against the sun.

EXT. TERRACE. DAY.
CECILIA crosses to the window. Outside, ROBBIE is standing rolling himself a cigarette. CECILIA goes over to a cherry-wood table, where there’s an early 18th-century Meissen vase. She drops the flowers untidily intoit and pulls out a crushed packet of cigarettes, which turns outto be empty. She glances back out of the window, picks up the vase, checks her reflection in the mirror and strides out towards the terrace.

EXT. TERRACE. DAY.
CECILIA is now wearing a green halter-neck evening gown and the jet necklace has been replaced with a rope of pearls. CECILIA fixes on a diamond hair-clip, contemplates her reflection for a moment, this time with satisfaction and enters the Terrace.

INT. STAIRCASE AND HALLWAY. NIGHT.
CECILIA
Briony, did you read this letter?
BRIONY
Yes, let’s, that’s a wonderful idea!
CECILIA
Briony…
BRIONY, now changed for dinner, crosses the landing and startsdown the last section of staircase leading to the hall. As shereaches the bottom step, she notices a diamond hair-clip lyingin front of the door to the library. She crosses to the hairclipand picks it up.

EXT. TALLIS HOUSE. NIGHT.
CECILIA, ignoring her mother, runs to ROBBIE. ROBBIE movestowards her, catching the CONSTABLE off guard for a second; she catches hold of ROBBIE’s lapel and whispers into his ear. The CONSTABLE arrives and disengages her hand, gently but firmly, then leads ROBBIE to the car and pushes him down into the back seat. CECILIA bursts into tears, as the door closes. The car begins to pull away from the house. Visible through the backindow, as he twists round to look over his shoulder, is the shocked, white face of ROBBIE.
