stu + dana // before 9 am

June 30, 2010 | Filed Under StillMotion | Leave a Comment

hearing dana (aka dairy) chat about the importance of her family and the house she was raised in while we were all in fort mac planted a seed in my mind.

instead of showing up to begin photographing as the girls arrived at the salon, i showed up at her farm at 5:30 am.  in fact, it was me who actually woke up her family on the day of her wedding, with a smile on my face and a camera in my hand.

during the next 3 hours i explored their farms, watched the sun rise, played with their many dogs, stood in the rain, socialized, admired old family photographs, and above all, focused on capturing the feeling of being home.

mel + joel // just a teaser

June 30, 2010 | Filed Under StillMotion | Leave a Comment

well, we’re gearing up for the bus tour, and i had really hoped to get together with mel and joel to share their images before our departure. you see, they’re getting married at the beginning of august, and with the tour taking up most of july, we really didn’t want to have to wait so long.

but alas, good things come to those who wait. and those who wait get teasers.   :)

so here’s a little something for now.

-amina

we share in the things our significant others love. even if it’s a little foreign.

between shots. while they wait for me, they remember why this wall has so much significance for them.

purchased before the engagement, mel knew she would marry joel in these shoes.

we’ll leave this one just between us.

Christine + Howard // Captivated {Same-Day-Edit}

June 30, 2010 | Filed Under Cloud Nine Creative | Leave a Comment

Christine + Howard were blessed with one of our typical sunny and temperate Vancouver days for their wedding in Vancouver this past weekend.  From the floral and décor throughout the day to the the bridal party themselves – everything was colourful and all the details were spot on!

Often times we try to meet with clients and really get to know them in our initial consultation meetings, but there is usually so much information to learn that it’s not always possible to get all the details about “their” full story until we film them on their wedding day.  Christine + Howard, on the other hand had a lunch reception after they got married where there were a number of really insightful speeches about the couple.  This allowed us to get to know them earlier in the day while filming which helped to include more depth into their same-day-edit.

After wrapping things up at their home in Shaughnessy we headed downtown to capture some amazing scenes beforing arriving at the always stunning Four Seasons Hotel for the reception.  Christine + Howard capped off their wedding day with a co-ordinated first dance that we extremely well-executed.  Great job, guys!

All day we weren’t only shooting but also editing and below is the same-day-edit that we screened for them and their guests at around 9 o’clock in the evening.  I hope you enjoy and congratulations again Christine + Howard!

Kira & Jed – Beautiful Seattle Wedding at Inglewood Golf Club

view mobile version here

Where do I even start with this wedding?? We met Kira and her mom 1-1/2 years ago with their wedding planner, Wendy Wojcik. They loved our work but wanted to go with a smaller option for our services. But Kira is very good friends with Lindsey & Tommy and was a bridesmaid at their wedding last year in Coeur d’Alene. When Kira saw their Same Day Edit, she immediately called and decided to upgrade to a longer edit AND a Same Day Edit. I was ecstatic for her and knew she had made a great decision!

Kira looked simply sublime in her dress…I love how the decorative element accents her waist and her earrings are to die for! And is this not one of the biggest wedding parties you’ve ever seen?? Being WSU Cougars, let me tell you it was a fun and wild crowd! We had a great time filming this wedding and I think it shows in their Same Day Edit. I can’t wait to get my hands on their dancing footage when we create their longer Wedding Movie! Kira marks the 4th friend in a close knit circle of friends whose weddings we’ve filmed and I hope we’ll be seeing more of these special ladies at more of their friend’s weddings!

You may remember Kellan and Brandon from their Same Day Edit featured earlier this year. Well here is their magical day in its entirety. The all white florals were designed by Sunny at White Lilac and Jeannie Savage of Details Details did an fabulous job planning as usual. Victor Sizemore photographed the day beautifully. Despite the rainy weather we were able to get some absolutely stunning shots outside after the ceremony. Kellan and Brandon also had a super cool Shoutoutbooth where their guests could leave video messages and take pictures! All in all it was a great evening with a party atmosphere (after all, Kellan & Brandon went to ASU... would you expect anything less?) Everyone had an incredible time... including us!! Check it all out!

Mitzvahs!

June 29, 2010 | Filed Under GENERATIONS videostories | Leave a Comment

Most people know us for our wedding films. We do Bar and Bat Mitzvah films and montages as well - in fact, this year, we're happy to say, we've been doing LOTS of Mitzvah montages and films. Since I come from a strong Jewish background (Naomi, here), I want to focus attention on the meaning of the event as much as on the celebration. Sometimes that means filming the Bar or Bat Mitzvah and family weeks prior to the event, interviewing the key people about the event's importance to them; asking them to reflect and share a bit about the events leading up to the event. Often we will film the rehearsal (particularly if we are unable to film the actual service) so that we can have the blessings; part of the Torah and Haftorah readings;the temple or synagogue visuals and the child's reflective speech as part of the film we will later create.

Our montages also tend to be complex: We most often include video from the parents' selections; new video that we record; photo images that we have colorized and reframed; and often sophisticated art direction to coordinate with the reception. We see the montage as a coming-of-age keepsake that is often gifted to grandparents and other important family members.

Recently we worked with a wonderfully talented mom, Daphna, and her amazing daughter, Maya, to create the following montage. It was shown at the reception at the Wellesley Country Club.

Stylish and Elegant-Sarah & Arturo

June 29, 2010 | Filed Under Classic Pixels Wedding Films | Leave a Comment

We had the pleasure of working with Sarah & Arturo on their wedding day and what a beautiful wedding it was!  Sarah works in the wedding industry so she knew which vendors she wanted to make her day the wedding of her dreams.  They held the ceremony at the Gardens of Ray Eden in Crestwood, KY.  As beautiful as the location is, her florist, In Bloom Again really brought style and color into the day.  The flowers were gorgeous.  Even though the heat index was about 100, you would never know it looking at the bride and groom.  They were having the time of their lives and family and friends right along side them.  Masterson's provided the wonderful food and service, with a country station and a Mexican station to please everyone.  Masters of Music kept the party going all night long.  Watch their highlights film and see what a great time everyone had.  Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Monica and David: Coming Attraction

June 29, 2010 | Filed Under Studio+Z Films | Leave a Comment

Monica and David’s beautiful wedding took place at the awe inspiring Guastavino’s in New York City.  When Josh and I first experienced this historic venue, we were like kids in a candy store with all the possibilities and the sheer majestic nature of the building itself.  Then to see it transformed into something that is unlike anything I’ve ever seen is beyond words. They shared their personal vows under a custom built tree in front of their friends and family who travelled far and near to experience this epic event.  After the ceremony, the room was transformed again into something even more amazing and would be the scene where they would dance the night away.   Enjoy this preview to their Feature Film.

Kristen + Beau’s Wedding Film Trailer {the fish and the cake}

Post image for Kristen + Beau’s Wedding Film Trailer {the fish and the cake}

I’ve known Kristen for a while now; she works at the fabulous Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Michigan. You can imagine how many different wedding professionals she works with week in and week out and to think she chose us: SO cool. She is a stinkin’ riot, she’s pretty, she’s funny, and I’m still wondering if we have met a girl that has been more excited about her wedding than K.

The week before the wedding, I FINALLY was able to meet Beau. I was beginning to wonder if this guy actually existed… and not only does he exist – but he’s totally rad. He was definitely looking forward to the wedding, but his excitement paled in comparison to Kristen’s…

The event was definitely “something beautiful” (which was also the theme) and we were so honored to have been apart of the festivities.

Thank you guys – for real, yo.

“You are My Sunshine”

June 29, 2010 | Filed Under David Perry Films | Leave a Comment

Davina Fear just posted a sneak peak of some images she took of our family. She is a dear friend and an incredibly talented artist. In fact, she was one of my first blog posts ever... back in 2006.  You can see her post on our family at this link.

This is what I wrote in response to her post:

"Davina, we absolutely love you and love these images. You truly made our day by spending the afternoon with us. We had so much fun and it was great to eat ice cream and just hang out. I am so impressed with your sincere desire to serve us and treat us like family. I shoot with different photographers almost every day (literally!) and you have always stuck out in my mind as one of the most dedicated and genuine photographers I have ever met. There are some people that come into your life and leave a mark that you never forget. When you are with them you think, 'Wow, this person really is special.' You are one of those people.
Thank you, thank you so much for being who you are and sharing your incredible talent with us. We love you!!!"

The Wedding Film of Lindsey + Jim

June 29, 2010 | Filed Under Epic Motion | Leave a Comment

Post image for The Wedding Film of Lindsey + Jim

The most important part of our job is capturing the story. This includes the story of the couple and the little stories that happen throughout the day. I love this film because you really get a sense of Lindsey and Jim – their relationship and their love for one another. I love the message the Lindsey wrote for Jim in his gift. I also LOVE the part when they get introduced into the reception and Jim JUMPS. SO cool to see that excitement coming from the dude. A couple other great moments included the chicken dance at Lindsey’s parents’ house with a real live accordion and if you’ve seen the bloopers on their finished film, you would love the flip that one of the bridesmaids does sort of un-successfully (so funny)!

Anyway, Meadowbrook Hall is always gorgeous. I think we were sort of the “house band” in 2009 filming there seven or eight times last year. We also shot with Patrick from Special Moments for the first time… and he let us borrow some pretty cool lenses that day – THANK, Patrick!!

And a quick blurb from Lindsey’s email to us: “We are absolutely in love with the wedding video!!!”

Thanks, Lindsey and Jim! We love it, too.

Rev. Pojen Lee and The Jackson Community Church – Jackson, NH

June 28, 2010 | Filed Under Meg Simone | Leave a Comment

When I talk with new clients celebrating in Jackson, they usually ask, “How is the Jackson Community Church?”  I personally love it. It’s one of my favorite church’s to film in.  The natural light is beautiful, and it’s so quaint, so “Jackson”… after all, you are choosing to get married here, why not really “get” married here (unless you are getting married outside, which I also LOVE). Pojen not only speaks from the heart, but he keeps things fun and really hits home major key points on what the significance of the wedding day is all about…. however, you don’t have to take my word for it.

“The Jackson Church is a beautiful location with perfect natural light!  Its New England style provides such a classic setting.  Pojen radiates happiness and makes everyone laugh throughout the ceremony allowing me to easily capture natural smiles and the true joyfulness of the day.” – Spring Smith, Concept Spring Studio
“We are SO glad that we went with Jackson Community Church and Pojen. It couldn’t have captured our feelings any better, and the small setting was cozy. I loved how we could see everyone in the pews so close to us!” - Lauren and Matt Burke, 5/22/10

Nanda & Darrell’s Wedding Day Highlight

Nanda & Darrell's Wedding Day Highlight from Sandy Buller on Vimeo.

Nanda and Darrell's beautiful day started at St. Edwards Catholic Church in Spring, Texas.  We love Darrell's expression when he sees Nanda come down the aisle. This is true love folks. Nanda and Darrell were lots of fun, especially on the dance floor at their fun reception at Wyndehaven Terrace in northwest Houston.  They had everything from traditional dances to the king of pop to the YMCA (complete with costumes!). And this is our first reception ever to throw autumn leaves at the bride and groom. We wish you both a long, happy marriage. Remember to keep dancing. (We can see you now, dancing the night away at your 50th wedding anniversary.)
