This may come as surprise to some of you but it’s a really wonderful opportunity! This has been in the works for about 4 months now and I’m so glad we can finally talk about it.
I won’t go into to much detail right now, but we will be doing some very interesting new development on some imaging technologies. This will not impact any of our 2008 or 2009 weddings however we will have to put our 2010 weddings on hold and we’ll be talking to those brides soon.
Thanks so much for all the support!
-John.

Jesus to a child,Liz & Reza’s Photo Highlights
March 31, 2008 | Filed Under StillMotion | Leave a Comment
Liz and Reza came in this evening to see their photos for the first time. Liz, a faithful StillMotion fan, cried during a quick photo montage that I put up. Thankfully, I had kleenex!
It was so touching to see her laughing at the funny photos and sobbing at the touching ones. This is one of the best parts of my job - seeing the impact that our favourite thing can have on others. At the same time, Liz is just a touch pregnant, so maybe it’s just the hormones!
Both Liz and Reza have always expressed their love for our work and truly made us feel at home on their wedding, not to mention their bridal party. Just all-round great people!
Here’s the little montage I made for them.

I don't normally post personal notes on this blog but due to the many enquiries from our clients keen to know the latest news I have decided to post a short message. Also, when you have a new addition to the family it's hard not to tell the world. It is such an amazing feeling to have a baby.My wife and I have been fortunate to have 3 beautiful children.
Our latest arrived on the 20th March, just before Easter. We now have two girls and one boy and couldn't be happier.
My good friend Kate from über photography (one of the best photography teams in Australia) came over and took some great pics of the new bub and family.
For weddings and/or portraits you can't go past über photography.

Pre-Wedding Video- Roni & Robert
March 31, 2008 | Filed Under Encore Media | Leave a Comment
Although it is common practice for photographers to shoot pre-wedding photos not many people are aware that we can also do the same with our video productions. Some of the advantages of having a pre-wedding shoot are:
* The couple are generally more relaxed
* More time to shoot, allows for extra locations if needed
* Locations are less crowded during the week
* It's a chance for us to get to know the couple better which inevitably makes it easier to work together on the actual wedding day.
* It's a great record for the couple.
* Often, if the photographer is willing we can shoot it together to save time.
* They are also just simply fun to do.
Here is an example of a recent pre-wedding shoot we did for Roni & Robert who flew out from their home in London.

Hot on the heels of his brother Raymond’s wedding, now it was Carlo’s turn.
Sukob it wasn’t, because Catherine and Carlo were already technically married (civilly).

Catherine wanted it upbeat and happy and was it ever!

Yesterday we did a great wedding for Cindy & Richard. Cindy was a guest at a friend's wedding last year where we did a Same Day Edit and made a mental note to herself to hire us someday when she got married. Well that day came sooner than I think she realized and she saw us at the Seattle Wedding Show and remembered we were the ones she wanted! Life is crazy like that sometimes!Cindy and her girls got ready at the Edgewater Hotel then headed over to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church were Richard saw his bride for the first time that day. Cindy's father was well enough to walk her down the aisle which was a very special moment and one she will have forever to watch again and again. We had a great time shooting with Ken from Azzura Photography...Ken you are too fun! :)
After the lucky couple was wed, they headed back to the Edgewater where we showed this fun video just a few hours later. I LOVE this song and I think it fit Cindy VERY well!

These two were such a beautiful couple, both inside and out, and their excitement for our photography did so much to fuel our energy!
We had a chance to get some great photojournalistic photos that told their story, as well as some out of this world pictures at Dundurn Castle after the ceremony. I’m sooo happy with how they turned out!
Married in October, these two had beautiful colours surrounding their day and great weather to boot.

Same-Day-Edits: A New option for 2008
March 28, 2008 | Filed Under Cloud Nine Creative | Leave a Comment
There’s a huge trend in wedding videography now called Same-Day-Edits. Not one to ever shy away from the latest and greatest trends here at Cloud Nine (no matter how challenging they may be), I wanted to quickly let you know about 2 new options that we have available for our current and potential 2008 clients.
To give you some background, a Same-Day-Edit is when we film for up to 8-hours on a wedding day and then edit and project a highlights trailer in our award-winning editing style to your crowd the same night of your wedding!
So here are your options:
a) Add a Same-Day-Edit to any videography package that you’ve already booked with us (i.e. you’ll also get a fully edited wedding film after your wedding) ~ Starting at $999.00
b) Have us film all day and edit a trailer for you on your wedding day without investing in the cost of a full wedding film up-front ~ Starting at $2250.00
If you’re on a tighter budget and don’t want to necessarily invest in a full wedding film or if you are looking for the ultimate in wow-factor at your wedding, give us a call or send us an email for more details!

How Did I Miss This?
March 27, 2008 | Filed Under Elysium Productions | Leave a Comment
First of all, I completely spaced and forgot to post yesterday! Woops! In any case, I came across this today:
So since our wedding season is just beginning, we haven't done a Same Day Edit for awhile so I'd thought I'd post a couple repeats. You are going to be seeing a lot of these this year. It is a SERIOUSLY hot wedding trend and if you decide to do one, you will never hear the end of it from your guests! Trust me!
For those of you who aren't familiar with a Same Day Edit, it's a short highlights edited on-site and displayed towards the end of your reception. This is such a powerful moment in the reception because it's like viewing a short film or music video of the days events. But anyway, enjoy these two. The first one definitely needs to be re-encoded as it was done during our "flash player" transition period!

Wow, we have 2 inches of snow on the ground here. I am trying to remind myself of the beauty of white but so ready for other colors! My sister, Bridget and I just co-produced a 5 minute documentary for the International Documentary Challenge (5 days to do it all!) Turned out cool, I think. Its about storage units! Was a big fun challenge.
Tasha + Paul - The highlights
March 27, 2008 | Filed Under StillMotion | Leave a Comment
Last week we posted Tasha and Paul’s ‘get your groove on’ first dance. That dance speaks volumes about who Tasha and Paul are and what they have together. Beyond being extremely kind, they are both sophisticated, passionate, fun and quirky, and so much fun to be around. All of those qualities are what I tried to capture and convey in this piece- which was no easy challenge.
Be prepared for one of the most honest and touching set of vows I’ve ever heard.

Article in Honolulu Star-Bulletin

Here is a link to an article printed the other day in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin. I had finally gotten around to sending out some press releases for the First Place Telly Award we received for this short documentary and they decided to write a story. The only thing wrong is that we didn't bring the survivors out to the island, the museum director did. I'm going to have to see if they can correct that. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the article!http://starbulletin.com/2008/03/24/features/story01.html

Thank you to all of our couples who provide great feedback and testimonials about their wedding videos. It's always nice to feel appreciated :)Below are some of the recent emails we have received as feedback.

Hi Dave,
During the early stages of our wedding, we had not planned to have a Wedding DVD. Our family and friends persuaded us to at least give it a try, so we started looking…
Most of our decisions were quick and easy, though choosing the right person to shoot our Wedding proved the hardest task of all. Many shot in music clip style and used heavy special effects. You were able to capture the natural moments, what people had to say and how they felt!
We love the final DVD. We trusted all your creative decisions from the start, you made us feel relaxed and we received a work of art, with your personal touch J
Thank you for capturing the day perfectly!
Nick & Diana.

The DVD is more fantastic than we both could have imagined. The effort you have put into it is just phenomenal and you captured every moment of our happiness.
Working with you on the day was amazing and the ideas you portrayed on our DVD is beyond our expectations. So on behalf of myself and Troy I Thank you from the bottom of my heart for producing such a great memory of our wedding.
Wishing you and your family all the very best for the future.

Leavin’ Las Vegas Shootout
March 25, 2008 | Filed Under StillMotion | Leave a Comment
On the last day of WPPI, right before everyone went home, we went out to Red Rock and did a shoot.
Mark Eric, Sofie Louca, and Jason Domingues of TrashTheDress.com and DontBoxUsIn.com organized the “Leavin’ Las Vegas” shoot on the 20th of March.
There were a few special guests, John Michael Cooper, David Beckstead, Mike Fulton and Jordan Chan from TriCoast, as well as about 45 other crazy good photograhers. We had 12 models, some of them were actually photographers and past brides, and we went out into the hills to shoot.
We shot from about 10:00 until 2:30, in bright bright sun, debuted some Radio Poppers, and just plain had fun.
DBUI.com flew Patrick and Michael down to capture the shoot… and here it is!
Here is a link to the HD Version on Vimeo.

PS- We had so many photo submissions that we could only use a small potion of what was sent to us. Unfortunately we had to skip many awesome shots as we weren’t able to cover that portion of the shoot on video.
