2007 was a landmark year for us what with the awards and recognition received internationally. But moreso, It was the year that wedding videography in the country flourished and came out of the shadows of photography. My good friend Bob Nicolas had his breakout year and Buddy Gancenia bagged first place in the Sony Wedding Video Competition. Mervin Gobaco snuck a couple of awards at this years WEVA awards as well as Imacron. Pinoyvideomakers Rock!
It’s a good time to be a videographer.
Before the year ended we managed to move to a bigger office (still at the same building though). The move was costly, money and time wise but it was a necessary to the growth of the company. Oh, we became an even bigger family with the addition of younger breed to the team. We all had a hard time fitting into Unit 6 so we appropriated Unit 23 for ourselves. I’ll post pictures soon.
Marketing efforts have been full blast so we’re almost fully booked for 2008.
There were some disappointments and missteps along the way, perhaps associated with growing pains. But the good thing about mistakes is that you can learn from them.
And what’s the new year without fireworks? Here’s a clip with generous doses. Happy New Year Everybody!
Old Hollywood Glamour

We had the pleasure of covering a New Years Bash in Hollywood style. Fireworks, haze, the red carpet, and about 1500 people with another couple hundred waiting at the door to get in.
We’d like to thank Vanguards of the Modern, the hosts of the Old Hollywood Glamour event, for making the night unforgettable for so many people. We’d also like to thank Mike, Lisa, John, and Cyndal for all coming out with their camera equipment to help.
We’ve got a ton of pictures from the night, including the red carpet walk, the Hollywood photo booth, and the party itself. You can browse through the gallery and order the photos online. And if you order them before January 3rd, you’ll get 10% off!

Tin and Phil: Little Wonders
December 29, 2007 | Filed Under Jason Magbanua | Wedding Videographer | Leave a Comment
Several days after Christmas and the Holiday fever is still on. Tin and Phil went for a winter wonderland theme with their wedding.

For some strange reason, I always associate the word snowflake with the Jim Carrey movie Ace Ventura. “Sonwflaaaake! Here Snowflaaake!”
The wedding was all wackiness and “Christmassy” cheer as the frame grab below perfectly encapsulates.

Julia + Phillip - Save the Date Video
December 29, 2007 | Filed Under StillMotion | Leave a Comment
Julia and Phil wanted a unique way to announce their wedding to their family and friends. A love story seemed too big, and an engagement shoot alone didn’t have enough punch- so they decided to make something in between, and we ended up with a save the date video. We will be launching their website in the coming week where friends and family will be able to check out this video. What a great way to get everybody even more excited for the wedding…
Let us know what you think of the idea.

Hello StillMotioners,
I hope you’ve all had, and continue to have, a wonderful winter holiday.
This year has been something else for StillMotion, we’ve done some really unique and interesting things we are so very proud of.
From Patrick, Amina, and Mike Traveling to the Dominican Republic, to speaking at the Canon CPS expos across the country, to creating a national commercial for Canon Canada, it’s been a year of “great success!!”. We are looking forward to many more years of success and we have some really neat things planned for the new year. I’ll be making some announcements on those in the coming weeks so keep your eyes glued!
I’d like to just talk a little about one of the the most important parts of StillMotion:
Amina and Patrick have created the foundation for, and grown the structure of this company to something very unimaginable. Knowing them both very personally (living in their house 3 days a week), I can attest to just how hard they work. While StillMotion churns out top quality wedding after top quality wedding, Patrick and Amina are inherently responsible for every single one. They wake up, work on your weddings- they go to bed, and work on your weddings. They are the most dedicated business owners I known, creating the best product in the industry, by far!
So on behalf of Myself, Mike, Tony and Rob, as well as all of our brides, parents, friends and family…
Thank you so much, Amina and Patrick, for dedicating your time to creating great happiness and joy in peoples lives.
Thank you also to all of our brides, who are all very wonderful!
Peace out,
- John.

life is wonderful....Austin Wedding Day Cover Shoot
December 26, 2007 | Filed Under Mason Jar Films | 1 Comment

Recently, I had the pleasure of shooting a behind-the-scenes feature for the cover shoot of Austin Wedding Day magazine. The covers of Austin Wedding Day (6 per year) are always exquisitely done, and these will be no exception.
The combination of the talents of photographer Andrew Sterling and Floral Designer Coby Neal lent to some fantastic portraits - it didn't hurt that the models were the best looking people on earth. Yes, they do look that good in real life.
Enjoy!

Anne-Marie + Mark’s Highlights

We are just about to take our holiday break but before we go I wanted to post one last clip. I finished Anne-Marie and Mark’s highlights up this evening and I thought it would be a perfect clip to share. It is hard to miss how much they are both smiling and laughing throughout the day and that energy really comes through in this clip.
Happy Holidays from the whole StillMotion team!

Huiwen & Daniel
December 22, 2007 | Filed Under Take 1 Productions | Leave a Comment
were married in Walled Lake and had their reception at Brentwood Country Club. We worked with Ray Anthony, who was the photographer for the event. This particular wedding was special to us as the couple was from our church, Faith Baptist. It was nice to see familar faces as Pastor Woody was the officiant for the ceremony and Mark Kerr played the piano. Huiwen's parents and sister came all the way from China to attend the celebration! Daniel's family had a special bond and his dad was his best man....how cool is that! You could see the love and joy on Huiwen and Daniel's faces all day.
Jayz Dance Concert 2007
December 19, 2007 | Filed Under D'nM Video Productions | Leave a Comment
One of my favourite events that we do annually is Jayz Dance Company's end of year concert. This is the third year that we have produced their concert DVD. I love doing weddings, but this is also a nice change :) The concert is great fun to film and edit - and the standard of dance at Jayz is always exceptional. The clip below shows a quick compilation of footage from this year's concert.
I received this fantastic feedback from Jackie, the owner of Jayz Dance Company:
We are a dance school in Canberra with 300 Students. We found DnM on the internet and decided to ask them if they would film our concert. Dave and the guys come down every year for 2 days to film 2 different shows.
They are always able to film in any position we give them, with no trouble at all. They are very efficient and provide us with a final product of excellent quality. Their camera work is superb and their editing fantastic. Our parents have nothing but praise for the dvd they receive each year.
Dave makes sure all aspects of the concert are covered including backstage beforehand right up to the final curtain.
From the beginning of each year until we receive the final master copies, Dave is always in contact and can sort every problem we give him. They are definitely the only Video Company we would use.
I am constantly recommending DnM Video Productions to anyone requiring a highly professional DVD of any occasion. I wish the company the very best for the future.

Janice and Alvin: A Boracay Wedding in December
December 19, 2007 | Filed Under Jason Magbanua | Wedding Videographer | Leave a Comment
I’ve always heard raves about Discover Shores in Boracay ever since they started operating early this year. as I entered the resort and the loft unit, I realized the hype lived up to expectations. The place was gorgeous.

Janice and Alvin’s wedding was intimate and small, but well thought out. From the Carolina Herrera gown, the Sunblock which came with the welcome kit, the John Varvatos sandals Alvin wore and the Boy Bawang given in that same welcome kit.
Jake, their two year old, was the ring bearer.

One of the highlights of the wedding actually happened before the ceremony. Alvin surprised Jan with an elegant Cartier Ladies Tank watch. Little did Alvin know that his wife had something up her sleeves too. Jan arranged for a secret Boudoir photo session with Mimi and Karl and gave the pictures as a surprise gift. And boy, was he ever!
Check out the Onsite Video we made for the couple.
It’s too bad we have to leave Bora today. Can’t wait for the next time.

Stacey & Ryan’s Wedding Story trailer for WedLuxe Winter/Spring 2008 - Toronto
December 18, 2007 | Filed Under Cloud Nine Creative | Leave a Comment
Stacey & Ryan’s beautiful wedding is showcased in the current edition of WedLuxe Toronto & Eastern Canada. When Stacey called and booked us to film her wedding we knew we had an immediate connection! Her fun-loving spirit and personality were evident throughout her entire wedding day. After a beautiful ceremony and some photos around the city, we headed back to capture their extravagant reception on the top floor of The Carlu. in downtown Toronto. It was quite the sight to see. Everything was immaculate right from the 5 foot tall wedding cake and the 30 foot hot pink back drop for the DJ down to the crystal-laden head table and giant chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. It was an absolutely stunning wedding to film!
