Top videographers meet in New Orleans
October 30, 2007 | Filed Under Cloud Nine Creative | Leave a Comment

For over a year now I’ve been a member of a group of international videographers known as WedFACT (The Wedding Filmmakers Alliance of Creative Talent). Membership in this organization is by invitation only and prospective pledges are voted in based on the quality of their portfolio. This organization represents truly the most talented wedding and event videographers worldwide so I’m honored to be included among all of them. In the coming days I’ll be posting some pictures and blogging about the annual conference I’m attending as a member of this group down in New Orleans. There are some exciting things underway for WedFACT and big plans for 2008. I’m excited to be finally meeting some of these talented videographers in person and hope to be able to learn and share as much as possible with them over the next 48 hrs. Our office will still be open our regular office hours and I’ll be returning all emails when I get back into town on Friday afternoon.~ Bruce
Trang + Scott - October 10.27.08

Last Saturday we had the pleasure of shooting the wedding of Trang and Scott. Their wedding featured some of the best dancing we have seen to date. Stay tuned for their reception montage as it will definitely be making it to the blog when it is ready.
While we were there to do only video, there were so many photo opportunities that I had to snap a couple for their DVD artwork. Thanks to Calla Evans, their photographer, for letting us get in there once in a while. Here are a couple of the shots that I plan on using for their DVD cover and menus.

Kristan & Dave Same Day Edit
October 30, 2007 | Filed Under Elysium Productions | Leave a Comment
WOW! What a great way to start off the week! Kristan & Dave celebrated their wedding yesterday at the Montage. The weather made it seem like a less desirable day to hold a wedding...but our cameras picked up some really awesome clouds in the sky! Near the end of the night, we presented the same day edit and after everyone watched it they chanted: "One more time!" It was hilarious! So we played it again for everyone. My favorite part about this same day edit is the audio byte from J.P. Reynolds from the ceremony--he always words things just right. It was such a fun and relaxing day and with really great decor from Square Root and Jeannie Savage taking care of every last detail. Let's not forget Joe Photo for giving us the photo here for our blog post. Have a great week everyone! Congrats to Kristan & Dave!-Kyle
We’re Growing!

It was bound to happen. We've been getting ready to announce this for a while now, and the time is right. Our staff has grown to 6 and we are now able to accept more wedding dates. Two of our "new" additions have actually worked with us for almost 2 years: Courtney Perkins started with us as a bright and enthusiastic intern from Emerson College and we quickly learned that Courtney was game for any challenge. Working with Courtney is always fun. When her boyfriend Patrick moved here from California, his experience in filming and lighting made them a powerful free-lance duo!Travis Farrenkopf came to us as an intern from Art Institute and within weeks had made himself indispensibe to our company. In addition to coming on many shoots with us, Travis can troubleshoot any technical issues, network our computer systems, handle lighting, filming and editing; AND layout our ads all at the same time.
Josee' LaPointe is our newest addition who appeared in a response to an ad I posted on Craigslist seeking an editor to help me finish my film on Equal Marriage. She's an award-winning documentary film maker, owner of Twelve String Production (web.mac.com/jmlapointe), knows how to tell a great story, and loves a good party!
Last, but certainly not least is "Justine the Intern" as she calls herself from BU. Justine is a woman of many talents - helping me pay sales tax one day, updating our marketing plans the next and generally keeping all of us happy and organized throughout the week.
We almost lost her a few weeks ago when she sprained her ankle rock-climbing, but fortunately for all of us, Justine is a quick healer and was back on the job the next week, hardly missing a beat.
We're excited to add new creative juices to our studio and promise that our work will only get better.

Sorry I've been away for a month. So much is going on and doing long hours of editing. So I'm popping in to say "hi" so you know that I'm still alive. I got an iphone last week to help me keep in touch with everyone easier. I love this thing!I will be going to New Orleans this coming week to meet up with some of the best videographers in the world. I'll blog while I'm there with my iphone :)

Kristen and Adam's wedding was so much fun to shoot! I couldn't believe it when I heard they had been dating for 15 years! They're so cute and so much in love. I worked side by side with Dina from Andrena Photography--she's awesome and very energetic....like myself :) So we had a great time together getting some killer photos at South Coast Winery. Check out Dina's blog if you get a chance, some really colorful photos. Congrats to Kristen & Adam!-Kyle
Fires
October 24, 2007 | Filed Under Elysium Productions | Leave a Comment
Couldn't think of a creative title for this post... but that's OK because there's nothing creative about it. It's just incredible how every year in October... almost like clockwork... the Santa Ana winds mysteriously start blowing out of the east causing almost every ounce of moisture in the air to evaporate. So maybe an old broken beer bottle chucked to the side of the road like 6 months ago, suddenly becomes a magnifying glass in the sun. Same as any other day, but this day it's different since the brush it's sitting on is dry as a bone as it hasn't rained in months... almost a year... and the wind is blowing all that fresh oxygen right by it and then wa-la... you have a fire with limitless amount of fuel all around it to burn. This is Alex's theory of how some of these crazy wildfires get started since they seem to spring up out of nowhere. Unfortunately though, some are found to be intentionally set by some idiot on a power trip (like the Santiago fire which almost caused us to evacuate our studio - they're offering a $70k reward by the way to anyone who can find this sucker!). Anyway, my point is that it is amazing how powerful nature can be, and how a simple thing like a change in the direction of a wind can suddenly turn into a fire storm that's burned down 1500 homes... not houses... HOMES. My heart goes out to all of these families. Here are some crazy photos from the Earth Observatory that show the progression of the fires over the last few days. That whispy white stuff is what we're breathing... lots and lots of smoke and ash. ICK!! But at least we are very safe, our house is fine, and all is good. Thanks to Nate & Jaclyn for publishing one of these images on their blog which led me to the rest. Oh and if you want to lend a hand, you know who to contact: American Red CrossSUNDAY:

The New Website is Up!!
October 21, 2007 | Filed Under StillMotion | Leave a Comment
With some much needed changes, we have finally got the new website up and running. Check it out for all new portfolios from our photographers. We should have the new video gallery up and running by tomorrow.
While the site was down we got quite a few inquiries from couples looking for more information. We are doing our best to reply to all of those emails today. We also had to change servers for our website and email, so we may have lost a couple emails in the transfer. If you don’t hear back from us by tomorrow, please do get in touch again.
Sorry for any inconveniences during the transfer. Check out the new site and let us know what you think.

Rosalie + Manny, Stoney Creek 10.20.07

What a day! We had such a wonderful time with Rose and Manny, their wedding was beautiful, and as you’ll see from the Same Day Edit Rosalie had such an elegant dress, and she looked truly stunning. Her bridesmaids dresses where extremely regal.. a treat to shoot! It’s always so gratifying to see a SDE well received and the guests didn’t let us down today. We seriously do have an amazing job, it’s a special thing to see a bride cry tears of joy when she watches our work!
Without further ado, here it is.

Sara & Scott’s Arthouse Edit
October 20, 2007 | Filed Under Elysium Productions | Leave a Comment
Sara & Scott's wedding at Montage was incredible... not only did they have one of my very favorite color combinations for a wedding (brown & light blue - also Elysium colors) but they had an AWESOME party!! Everything about this event from start to finish was amazing... even their katubah was gorgeous! As you watch this, you'll see lots of details planned by the couple w/the help of Details Details such as a signature blue martini, and twinkle lights hung on the ceiling. Victor Sizemore took the snaps (see some of them posted on his blog). Congratulations Sara & Scott!Photo Congress 2007

We finally posted it! Audra tells me she found Darren running late for work while watching their film short for the 3rd or 4th time. I am deeply honored (and flattered!) that Darren - who is such an artistic perfectionist - is happy with our work.We had a good time with colors and mood while making this film. Of course the main and supporting characters made for a naturally great story!

All the live music at the wedding is played by musicians from Siman Entertainment.
We hope you enjoy the wedding!
